Self-sufficiency and sustainability

Energy Supply

Thanks to the installation of a hybrid system with solar panels and an air generator and two big battery banks, savers and convertors, we have achieved the self-sufficiency in clean energy supply with out the need to depend on the public energy net.

Water Supply

The supply of clean water is made through a system that originates up-stream in a water spring from which we feed water to a hydraulic ram. This pump is moved by the water that falls into a sailed wheel, the pump sucks water from a well in which we collect water from three underground springs. We supply the reserve with 8000 litres of pure water a day, with out depending on electric energy.

Food Supply

For our food supplies, we have all the fruit varieties that grow on a tropical moist forest, as well as a wide range of vegetables that we cultivate within a controlled greenhouse environment. We also sow species and gramineae. We are initiating a project to rescue, catalogue and reproduce medicinal plants.

We produce organic milk and cheese. It is obvious that our respect for life turns us into vegetarian, which facilitates us our food self-sufficiency.

Almost inevitably, this self-sufficiency takes us to sustainability. Nevertheless, we try to follow all the adequate techniques to attain that everything we do will assure the use and future consume of anything we need to live. We could say that a life in self-sufficiency and with absolute respect for the environment guarantee its sustainability.
